good quote:

“Steven P. Jobs, the chief executive of Apple, once defined creativity as “just connecting things.” Sleep assists the brain in flagging unrelated ideas and memories, forging connections among them that increase the odds that a creative idea or insight will surface.”

project of the day-  get the sewing machines installed and running. picture was taken as the ‘before’. Only took an engineer (the one who built eartha), my dad, and me running around trying to find a wrench that might fit.  there are still some mysterious parts that didn’t get incorporated yet came in the boxes, so I’m hoping a professional can come visit next week.

Teal tangling:

Teal un-tangled her dress a few days ago, so I showed her how to retangle it. -if you decide to try this at home, you need to hang the dress on a mannequin, dressform, or person to tangle it correctly. :)

an observation on mpg

all summer, I’ve been walking everywhere possible in Portland. I drive a small car, a mini cooper, but it gets worse miliage than I expected.  The sticker promised 25/35, and for the past two years I averaged 26.4  Most of my miles were outside of the city, but I did drive 1-2 miles per day intown.

Since I stopped driving in Portland, my miliage went up to 29.4.
